When I was a new dentist, transitioning to the professional setting and the adjustment from dental school to a clinical practice was a significant change. There was a mix of excitement, challenges, and many opportunities for growth. It was quite normal to feel less confident with my clinical skills and decision-making but countering that was the growing number of dental cases completed and positive feeling of accomplishment seeing how satisfied my patients were.

I found the toughest challenge presented was those few times that my clinical work suffered premature failure, especially the cases that involved debonding of newly cemented crowns and bridges. Many will understand the feeling when you thought you had successfully completed a case and you had savored the patient’s smile and their praise… then a few days later, the patient would return complaining that the new crown and/or bridge had fallen off. It was one of the scenarios I would hope to always avoid.

Cementing dental crowns can be a more challenging task for dentists, especially when we consider adhesively bonded restorations that typically require optimum clinical conditions for bonding and a material-specific pre-treatment strategy of the intaglio surfaces.  To help dentist’s address the complexity and variability of cementation challenges there has been focus within GC R&D on technology that simplifies clinical process. This has led to the development of G-CEM ONE, a universal self-adhesive resin cement.

The self-adhesive nature of G-CEM ONE eliminates the scrupulous surface preparation for many procedures and its universal applications means one cement can cover the range of adhesive scenarios encountered. Simplification and standardization help reduce the risks for failures and by delivering a consistent, high-quality bond between the crown and the tooth structure, G-CEM ONE has emerged as a reliable solution to overcome many of the challenges in dental crown cementation.
